Vintage New York

Jessica contacted me via a formal email… she is an enthusiastic woman, full of passion and even if I haven’t met her in person yet, I can feel from her words that there is a good vibe between us. She showed me the pictures of her wedding and of course, we couldn’t not decide to post them. I immediately loved the colours she chose for her party, the vintage mood and the elegant dresses of her bridesmaids. For all these reasons I am sharing these images with you.

This beautiful wedding was captured by Heather of Oak Street Studio a talented photographer and a collaborative and kind person.

Perrin and Jessica got engaged while walking in Fort Greene Park in their beloved Brooklyn neighborhood. They decided they wanted a fall wedding in the Big Apple  and they chose the The Metropolitan Building in Long Island City, Queens.

We love the French chateau-inspired interior, the eclectic antique furniture, and the bohemian-chic aesthetic of this venue. Incorporating antique vases, candelabras and birdcages, Jessica and Perrin also brought their own special touches to the overall muted tones of the décor by draping creamy lace with hints of silver over the guest table. Candlelight, white pumpkins and small apothecary jars of flowers made an appearance all throughout the venue.

Combining her crafting skills, Jessica created several signature décor pieces for the event.  Months before the wedding, she told me, she spent hours in the kitchen staining coffee-filters in pots of tea, working to achieve her desired tea-stain color palette. She then crafted the filters into poofy flowers and strung them on rustic twine to give a touch of whimsy to the ceremony area. Her wedding gift also was a pouch of mulling spices, placed inside decorated burlap bags. She designed the reception table flower arrangements ordering flowers from NYC’s flower markets. The “guest book” was a collection of vintage postcards inside a suitcase.
