Scottish mood

I met Angela and Douglas a while ago, when they were deciding where to get married.
I loved the fact that they brought their traditions into my country.
“A groom wearing a skirt” … an idea Italian men would definitely not consider for their wedding day… Douglas and his friends instead, carried their traditions, brought their own Scottish kilts to Southern Italy and had a blast.
I can still see the eyes of the older men, sitting under the shadow of a tree, in the Italian piazza, looking at those boys wearing their traditional skirts.Heroes coming from green England…or some strange people who decided to get married in Italy!!!

People on the square loved Angela and Douglas… probably, they had never seen something like that, something unusual for them, so distant from the Catholic traditions.

The mayor of the Village officiated himself in person the civil ceremony, he didn’t send any other members of the Municipality to fulfil his duty… In many other cities in Italy, mayors are simply too busy to attend every event.
The priest, Andrew…he celebrated a touching mass, words of love and tears of joy…
Douglas, the groom, who had praises for everyone, during his speech…
And Angela who silently had some tears falling down her cheeks when she entered the scented room full of lavender and candles and rosemary…and stared at her husband to be. Sparkling eyes, like those of a little child. She told me lately, she had never seen such a beautiful room and she felt she was living a dream.
