A child’s dream wedding dress

I, like a lot of women out there, had my wedding dress all thought up before the age of 10, it was however, a lot different to what I picture now. I actually owned one of those lifesize Barbies when I was young, the bride one, looking back it’s a tad creepy but at the time I loved her. She had on a corseted white bodice, which fitted so well over her non-existent figure ( you can imagine my horror when I suddenly grew hips, what on earth were they doing there!!) and a puffy white skirt that skimmed along the floor, layers of netting with silk draped over the top, and this dress was pretty much my dream dress too. A bodice with a skirt the size of a mountain trailing as long as a river behind me. A veil that my Dad would lift at the end of the aisle, etc, you get the jist. Barbie and Ken had it all right, I found these images the other day that amused me, shot by Beatrice De Guigne, ladies and gentlemen, Barbie and Kens Wedding!

These images made me start thinking about my ideal wedding dress today, after visiting the Designer Wedding Show in Battersea this weekend there is now a clear winner. Long gone are my thoughts of OTT puffy shoulders, and ballroom dancing sparkly shoes that I dreamt of as a child, here now lays in my thoughts a elegant, vintage, laced and silk dress. Charlotte Casadejus designs vintage inspired pieces, she began in 2003, with a love of Textiles she designed cushions with beautiful embroidery, she moved on to wedding dresses, taking inspiration from bits of lace, beading and vintage dresses she had collected along the way.
