I am obsessed with statues

Images by Chicweddings

I am obsessed, I see them everywhere and every time I want to possess them.

I want to create a wedding table with those, white materials taken from the past. I want to use statues and bustos, antique folklore of the ancient history!

The use of statues is underestimated, in my opinion. You always seems too old ( by the eyes of those evil friends)  if you dare to use them as decorative objects, while instead I find them rather elegant!

Below some objects which caught my attention recently. I would like to have them all in my house.

Wandering in Florence

A short post for tonight, unfortunately, we have been too busy in helping our lovely brides… the wedding season is approaching!!!

The past week end  I have been accompanying my clients to Florence and while walking and strolling after a day with them, I bumped into this beautiful creation! I love these cactus shaped vases, and I love even more the contrast with the orchids…it made me think about the difference between men and women, their strong contrasting personalities which complement themselves adding harmony to their relationship. One is harsh, sometimes aggressive, or defensive, white and pure as a man often can be, the other one delicate, beautiful with soft skin, colourful as our gender can be.

Two opposite elements, in the world of plants… isn’t nature just perfect?

Beach winter wedding decor

Images by Clara, styling by Chic Weddings in Italy

A beach wedding is beautiful in winter as well. Think of deserted coastal villages, long stretches of sand with nobody around, fur coats and straw baskets, a lighthouse, warm blue blankets and soft striped cushions on a hot February morning. I was born by the sea and of course got married right by the sea. I could not think of a BETTER place to tie the knot, I could not think of ANOTHER place. For me, my special day had to be all about swimming, enjoying the calm Mediterannean waters, drinking Malvasia and feeling the warm sun on my skin.

My sister though likes cold weather, she loves when the northern breeze caresses her cheeks in wintertime. She likes to cycle along the shore wearing thick jumpers and confy cashmere hats, boots and velvet trousers. She is probably the kind of person who would choose a winter month for her wedding celebrations.

Thinking about that…about the fact that not everybody likes to get married when it’s hot and sticky, I have created this February beach setting for a lovely, seaside wedding breakfast. I can picture the guests arriving at the church, located right on the beach, with their bicycle and a pic nic basket full of tasty delicacies to be enjoyed after the ceremony. A light breakfast, followed by a stroll on the beach where laid back pictures are taken while the bride and groom play in shallow water with their rain boots. Then, after sunset, everyone reaches the fishing village for a superb meal at the local “Osteria”.

What would the perfect attire for such an informal authentic wedding day be?

- A fur coat

- A chiffon dress

- A pair of Hunter boots

- A cashmere hat

BHLDN Spring 2012 – Beautiful Wedding Dresses

I remember when BHLDN launched their first bridal dress collection in January 2011, around the time I was looking for my own wedding dress. I was struck by how feminine and different their designs were. Each dress had its own personality and all of them were pretty. Not suprisingly then BHLDN have designed another stunning collection for Spring 2012. The new collection shows some interesting styles, so finding a dress that captures you (or your alter ego) has just gotten easier. Take a look at some of these beauties…

Bali Bliss

Finally in Bali! What do you think we all wanted to do as soon as we grabbed our rental car? Go for a coffee of course! We opted for a relaxing brunchy style coffee at the Bali Cafe’…smashing setting with a superb attention to detail. Everything looked perfect, the flowers on the table, the white chairs, the pinky velvet cushions, the shabby granola bowls, the cane sugar in mint cups with painted flowers…and I could go on forever. How come that I find all this in Indonesia and I struggle to find it in Italy…the soi-disant “patria del design”? Mhmm, I am astoned.

I’m Dreaming of a White..Wedding

Image from lovemydress

It is the first snowfall. You rush down your stairs, open the curtains, and there it is…that flawless, mystical world of snow. Your heart leaps,  you can’t stop smiling, you feel an instant sense of excitement. You can’t wait to breathe in that fresh smell, to taste the icy cold snow melt in your mouth, to hold a snowflake until it melts in your hand. The world feels as if it has stopped for a minute, stopped to appreciate the beauty in simplicity.

The emotions of the first snowfall, is the same for that of a bride on her wedding day.  This is why a White Winter Wedding is the best way to combine the two.

Winter Weddings provide a natural beautiful venue to create a timeless masterpiece. Whether it be in a valley surrounded by snow capped mountains, or a field lightly dusted with snowflakes, it is bound to be a venue that will leave guests ‘awe’ struck by the beauty of their surroundings. For that moment the world stops, its just you looking into the eyes of the man you love, surrounded by those who care about.

What kind of shoes are you?

Contemporary, classic or extravagant? So many shoes to choose from for your big day…they are all fabulous, I guess it all depends what you feel comfortable wearing. You should definetely bring along a pair of White Converse…just in case!

On my wedding day I was barefoot…that’s probably the easiest choice of all.

Red and white festive engagement party

Ok, I have to accept the fact that Christmas is indeed approaching. All the lights are now on, shop windows display reindeers and other festive animals…such as Penguins (honestly…why Penguins? I am not quite sure why the species are now at all connected with the festivities but maybe I will be enlighted by someone among you?) As you might know the London Chic Weddings team is moving to Asia for the Christmas season…why? Well, maybe we are planning to expand overseas or maybe we are looking for new trends or maybe we have been asked to organise an engagement party for one of our loyal client and we have been so tempted by the warmer weather that we have decided to accept. It’s a mix of all this and we will keep you posted while making the most of the winter sun. Anyway…back to the Penguins and the Christmas decor here in London. I was surfing the net for ideas and found these:

White pumpkins for a Chic Wedding

Image from Better Homes and Gardens website

In this period of the year it’s very easy to find everywhere orange pumpkins, which are obviously used to celebrate Halloween as well as to decorate tables, window displays, etc. But, don’t forget that pumpkins come in other colors besides orange: green, cream, gold and white! Here I’ve put together a few inspirational white pumpkins images; these latter are less used and probably unknown to the most… but really gorgeous! Perfect to give a subtle and elegant touch to your wedding!

You can embellish them with stencils, laces, pearls or with a nice decoupage like the one proposed by Funky Time. Or, you can arrange fantastic centerpieces adding candlesticks, twigs, flowers and plants. So, let’s dare a bit using white pumpkins instead of the traditional orange ones!

The perfect autumn wedding with mushrooms

Image from Wedzu

Wood slabs, butterflies, rocks, hedgehogs are perfect for the autumn season… but what about mushrooms? If you are organising an outdoor wedding for this autumn, here are some ideas for you! The woodland theme is very popular at the moment so it was fun to have so many inspiring parties as reference points. I like the idea of adding mushrooms to your decoration, whether you opted for a quirky wedding or an event with a rustic feel. You can in fact choose  between fairy tale-like red & white mushrooms  or the more realistic brown ones, and they will all be so cute if used in boutonnieres, bouquets and centrepieces! And for the cake and candy bar corner… lots of other interesting ideas are waiting for you!
