Buckle up!

 Via Honey&Jam

I realised early in life not to mess with a man and his car. I remember my brother out front of our house, washing his car daily, detailing every last inch of it, and shining it ’til he could see his face in it. Sometimes I would come outside and him and his friends would be standing there just staring at it. I’ve always realised a relationship was going somewhere when I was finally granted the keys to drive.  There’s just something about a man and his car.

So ladies, if you are having trouble getting your man to contribute to the Wedding planning here is something that I KNOW he will LOVE. Why not get him to choose that ‘Hot’ ride that you guys will roll up in on your Wedding Day. With so many gorgeous cars out there its hard to go wrong, and he will be so excited.

You might want a Pink Chevrolet but maybe he likes a black Rolls…do let him pick! You can always make it more classy or funky with the appropriate decor. Here are a few ideas…!!!

Torcello, a wedding in the lagoon

Image by Alex E. Proimos (Flickr)

Last week I’ve been busy with a wedding …a romantic wedding on the island of Torcello, in the stunning Venice lagoon…  I fell in love with the place… and with the couple… they were absolutely lost in each other’s eyes, so in love, so relaxed, so happy! And this small island has made the wedding even more romantic!  Torcello is a little gem of 20 inhabitants.. almost deserted and immersed in nature. You can arrive by boat, passing by the closer island of Burano, another pearl of the lagoon!

The long wild path leading across the island to the Ponte del Diavolo – or Devils Bridge – and then onto the Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta – full of glorious Byzantine mosaics – is the highlight of the island. When we left Torcello, at the end of the party, it was night time and the small lights of the path and of the boats created a very a mysterious and suggestive atmosphere… a rare treat and difficult to find elsewhere.

All the guests were enchanted by the scenario, the boat trip and the venue.. certainly a wonderful and memorable wedding!

Just Married signs

The ‘Just Married’ sign is something that should not be forgotten!  I remember as a nightmare when the traditional wedding getaway car was decorated with shaving cream, old shoes,  wrapping paper, and anything else those rakish groomsmen could find… I have seen many brides who didn’t like that “idea/surprise” at the end of the ceremony! But…you can now still tell  everybody that you have just got married by personalising your car with a chic touch!! People on the street will smile at you and will clap their hands cheering … you will love it! A sign reading ‘Just married’ with ribbons, flowers, pompoms or white balloons to personalise your transportation and make a statement! Here are some ideas for your car, bike or for any other transportation you are using for the day!

Wedding bus

Wedding transport…always a dilemma. Should we pay for our guests’ transfer…should we let them drive their own car…should we organise something funky…or should we choose something practical and comfortable? Mhmm…I personally think that your guests will love being cuddled from the townhall to the reception. Don’t let them get lost along the way..allocate some budget to this item of your planning list and choose an original way of moving people around. ♥ Read more and view more photos

Wedding transportation ideas

Images by Tierneyphotography and Weheartit

When thinking of which location to choose for your wedding day, you may like to consider as well which transportation you would like to provide to reach the destination. If taxis or private cars are not available, friends and family will enjoy a tour on a British bus, or a cool boat to reach the wedding venue.

If you wish to dare and to kick everyone’s spirit ( don’t do this on hot summer days!)  you could hire many bicycles and enjoy a ride all together; while in Italy instead, you may like to consider some vintage vespas, or some cool Riva speed boats, such a 60′s mood!

For the sportive couples and the lovers of speed, I like the idea of an old Porsche 911, my favourite!  I imagine a bride and a groom  driving in style up and down the Tuscan hills, attracting the gaze of their guests and passers by with this beautiful vintage never passe’ car.
