Its Never to Late for a Thankyou…

Its never to late for Thankyou…

Have you ever gone to a wedding, a bridal shower, an engagement party, bought the Bride and Groom a gift that you thought they would really enjoy, and weeks then months go by without a thankyou card? You begin to ponder did they even recieve the gift? Maybe they didn’t like it? In some cases a year later a thankyou card shows up in the mail. You should be happy that the Bride and Groom have been using your gift religiously, but instead your left with this awkward feeling.

Here is some tips on Thankyou Cards:

Timing:

A thankyou card is best to be sent between 1-3 weeks of recieving a gift. Some have said that Princess Diana wrote her thankyou cards every night before bed.

Writing the Card:

1. Address the giver personally

2. Acknowledge the gift and gratitude for it

3. Express how you will use the gift

4. Thank the giver again

5. Kind Regards

It is now quite popular for a bride and groom to send a picture out of their wedding as a thankyou card, so for personal cards like those, it is acceptable to send a thankyou card out 1-3 months after received.

Wedding invitations by email? YES!

By Mighty Vites

Isn’t it such a pain to start collecting everyone’s address in this virtually paperless and internet-based society? Yes it is! Why do you have to delay sending out your invites because those lazy friends don’t respond to your emails? You have asked them to send over their proper contact details and they are just not doing it. ARGHHH, don’t they understand that YOU DO HAVE to send out those precious invites by the end of the month before it’s too late? That would give them only 2 months to send back their RSVPS and you cannot wait any longer than that because you have got to book the catering and confirm final numbers and decide what to do with the transport and the favours. Also, if we have more guests than we thought, then we will need a marquee, because the room does not hold more than 100 in case of bad weather…OH, WHAT ARE WE GONNA DO?????

Well, first of all…leave all this stress behind and opt for paperless invites!  You will also spare all those trees…perfect if you are an eco-friendly bride. Here are a few companies I found online that you might want to check out.

Russian dolls for your wedding

Image by Erin + Courtney photography

I love Russian dolls, and I can spend hours looking at them… they remind me  of my mom and the living room in my childhood home, we used to have a couple of them: how cute! At the moment, those dolls seem to be very popular, and everywhere you can find Russian dolls accessories and furnishings. Russian dolls, also known as Matryoshka Dolls or Babushka are the perfect symbol of mothering and children. The big one holds her family inside her, protecting them and giving them a snug home. This symbol of love can be easily used for a wedding, or a bridal shower. Here I have put together several images and ideas of how to use these lovely dolls on your special day!  I love the idea of hiding the wedding invitation into a Russian doll… there is the message in a bottle, and now the message in dolls, too! :)

Will you be my bridesmaid?

Image from Plan Perfect Honeymoon’s website

On your wedding day, you will surround yourself with the women you love: your sisters, best friends, mothers, cousins or other women that mean a lot to you. It is a lovely tradition to present your bridesmaids with small gifts or tokens of your appreciation for coming to your wedding and helping you celebrate. Here are some great bridesmaid gift ideas. Vintage spools wrapped in cream fabric, tied with ribbon and adorned with an old fashioned forget-me-not flower. The spool unwraps will reveal a secret message hand stamped inside: ‘will you be my bridesmaid?’ Or, what about sending a  “wedding´s instructions kit”? I love the idea of using unfinished cigar boxes, then paint and embellish them as you prefer. In the boxes you can send all the details about the wedding day and place photos of an inspiration board and pieces of fabric to showcase your colour scheme. This is such a fun and unique way of asking your favourite ladies to be part of your special day!!

Creative wedding invitations

Today I have some creative wedding stationary to share. I was thinking about invitations… which is the first sign to let  your guests know about your wedding…so… why not choose something surprisingly unusual? Grab your guests’ interest about the wedding location sending them a miniature flag of the state or country in which you are marrying; or insert some unusual props inside the envelope like a magnet holding the card .. .pencils or a balloon that needs to be inflated to find out the wedding date.
Think about what you and your future husband like more and send your guests a unique invitation, just made for you, something that reflects you! Be creative: the ideas are many and easy to make! The success is assured!

A vintage library wedding

Looking at these pictures.. I immediately thoughts about the love stories born in an old school library. Often these relationships last forever and often the couple continues to cultivate the passion for reading that had pooled them together in the beginning. I adore the idea of two bookish types tying the knot in an old library or bookstore.

The library with its silence and mystery offers a romantic atmosphere, especially when you add a vintage touch to it with old books, vintage letterpress blocks, embossed leather-bound journals…

You could incorporate short verses of your favorite poem into your decor, lovely words into the bridal bouquet, on the cake and even on the chair covers!

Vinyl discs for a vintage wedding

Image from Blue vinyl creative’s website

Since I was very young I’ve been always attracted by old cloths, accessories and photo albums of my grandmother. In particular I’ve been amused by her old (broken) gramophone and vinyl discs.. I remember spending so much time smelling them and imagining the living room full of people who were dancing! My mother today preserves the whole collection of records.. And I would never ask her to lend them to me for a wedding.. Still I love the idea to play vintage records at a wedding party! There are lots of places where you can find pre-loved records… charity shops are the best for it (you can pay less than 50p per record)! I’ve found some interesting ideas about using vinyl discs at your reception … just for adding a retro touch to your special day! For those couples who love music, who play some instruments or simply love a retro’style. There are so many alternative ways to use records! Vinyl butterflies, for example…These would be fabulous dotted around your wedding venue, on the walls! Perfect for detailed shots too! Vinyl table numbers/names, old record wedding invitations or save the dates (paper isn’t the only way to send out a save-the-date!) and … what about a vinyl guestbook? You can personalise the central label with your names and wedding date and have your guests sign the vinyl with permanent marker- to be displayed on your wall for a lifetime!
