A Secret garden

We were once obsessed with this film, and truth be told, I still am. Re-released in 1993 this film captures everything that I dreamt of as a little girl, secrets, fantasy, beautiful dresses, manor houses, hidden gardens, streams, everything. Marys wardrobe, for a 13 year old girl, left me feeling envious and to this day still does. In the beginning of the film, her wardrobe is some-what limited, going as far as “black, black or black?” in reference to her dress choices. As the film meanders along through the manor house, to the woods and to the secret garden Marys wardrobe starts to represent her ever-growing state of mind into a happier place, white lace, adorned with embellishments, ruffles, soft knitted cream jumpers, delicate buttons, ankle socks with frills, black patent shoes, colours of lilac, soft blues, white and cream all tied together with silk sashs and bows, it’s the stuff of girls dreams. We found some film stills (excuse the quality, but they do what they say on the tin) for you to enjoy, but it’s best to watch the film, what beautiful inspiration for a wedding.

Spun With Gold

Ooo we love, we love!! Donatella stepped out of hiding for the first time since 2004 with this most recent collection, inspired by gold and 1950′s hollywood glamour. The designs were an array of evening outfits, party dresses and gowns, all delicately embroidered with crystals and lace. It made us thing of alternative colors for wedding dresses, gold, sometimes deemed as dangerous, could be too OTT? Done right however and it can be beautiful. Teamed with the right pair of Manolo Blahniks and what have you got? A dream spun with gold.
