Fragrance has always been a big part of my life and I try to use scents purposefully. To me, there is nothing more special than a frangrance that triggers a happy memory or dreams of discovering a new place.
The smell of Tiare reminds me of my magical trip to Hawaii a few years ago; the sun shining and beauty everywhere. The scent of Jasmine instantly takes me back to when I was living in Mumbai last year, where this scent was used to express luxury and opulence. Recently, I went looking for a new fragrance to enhance my mood in the form of room sprays and candles.

I’ve been using Ortigia products for over a year and everytime I use them, they take me away to an Italian paradise. Ortigia is a small town in Sicily, Italy and its beauty is captured in a scent form by a brand called Ortigia who make visually appealing products with smells to die for. The packaging alone is perfect to turn your bathroom into a little Siciliy.

Ortigia have expanded their range of products and my favourite scent from the range is Fico d’India which comes from a cactus plant. The scent is powdery and smells divine. If you are planning a wedding this summer, how about setting a mediterranean atmosphere with some Italian fragrances? The room sprays and candles not only look fabulous but will add a distinct scent to your day.

Take inspiration from this wedding where they’ve used Ortigia soaps as fabulous wedding favours for guests. What a beautiful idea for guests to remember your special day!

If you are about to get married, you should keep a diary. I do realise that our lives are so hectic nowadays and we never find the time to sit down and think…let alone write about our emotions. However, your life is in your hands and you can control it.
Keeping a diary is a lovely way to record your memories and pass them along to the next generation. As you have often asked your mother how she got engaged, your daughter will die to read about your wedding planning, your moments of joy and your anxieties. It would be a wonderful present to offer her when she unveils her decision to tie the knot.
And..reading about the reasons why you have chosen to marry the man of your dreams will also help during the rough patches…it will help you remember why you love him so much in the years to come.
You can write about your planning, your guests can add their comments to the diary on your special day and you can also offer diaries as favours. Everyone should start recording their thoughts on ink and not just on a screen of a computer…let’s go back to past traditions for once!

I’m sure most of you have seen similar images like this around, this fad has swept Europe. The first time I heard this romantic story, a couple proudly pronouncing their love by attaching a lock to a bridge and throwing the key in the water, I thought what a perfect way to symbolise eternal love.
So some of you may not be hopeless romantics like myself, but it is still a great inspiration for a Wedding Favour or an innovative way to do a GuestBook.
As a Wedding Favour you could engrave your names on the locks or leave blank for guests to find that special place with their partner, or their future Mr. Right.
Try using a lock and key as a GuestBook at your Wedding. You can use a piece of gate from the garden of your new home and place it where the guest table is. Guests will then attach their very own lock and greeting. This will serve as a timeless reminder everytime you pass your garden of your many friendships, and that day you tossed your key in the water.

I love Russian dolls, and I can spend hours looking at them… they remind me of my mom and the living room in my childhood home, we used to have a couple of them: how cute! At the moment, those dolls seem to be very popular, and everywhere you can find Russian dolls accessories and furnishings. Russian dolls, also known as Matryoshka Dolls or Babushka are the perfect symbol of mothering and children. The big one holds her family inside her, protecting them and giving them a snug home. This symbol of love can be easily used for a wedding, or a bridal shower. Here I have put together several images and ideas of how to use these lovely dolls on your special day! I love the idea of hiding the wedding invitation into a Russian doll… there is the message in a bottle, and now the message in dolls, too! :)

When the weather starts to be cold, chestnuts are a staple! They will be a perfect decoration for an autumn wedding, especially if you are planning a rustic wedding where the colour scheme will include warm tones of brown and charcoal. You can surprise your guests setting up a chestnut roasting on an open fire or using chestnuts as a favour displayed in unique packages in the candy bar. Chestnuts are also perfect for the cake together with the famous marrons glacés… or what about chestnuts in spirits?! In Italy it’s quite popular during the winter period to give a jar of chestnuts conserved in rum or brandy as a present. This tradition can be easily recreated on your wedding day… your guests will be surely delighted!

Oh I love them! Yes, I love this idea, so new, so fresh! I wish so much to receive a wedding favour like this!
These looking like polaroids are made of flour, butter, eggs and sugar… and then coloured and artfully painted with edible colours. I can see a wedding table customised with these jewels. One for each guest, every cookie painted accordingly to the personality and history of your friends, attending the party!
I like this so much!!! Don’t you?

Yesterday, I accidentally came across Edward Lear’s poem “The Owl and the Pussycat“, first published in 1871. After some research I found that it is a popular reading at many wedding services.. So this inspired me.. Owls are certainly one of the most striking and beautiful birds in the world, throughout history and across many cultures, people have regarded Owls with fascination. Today owls are in the main stream with all kinds of clothing, decor and accessories … so why don’t incorporating this lovely bird into your special day? That would be an adorable addition to any autumn wedding!
You can just place subtle little hints hidden in your centerpieces or make your guests smile with cute chubby owl cupcakes! Show off your theme with owls invitations as you give your guests a little taster of the whimsical wedding they are about to attend, or let them go back home after the party with an owl favour, like this beautiful set of soaps! In whatever way you use this misterious little bird, it will give an original and striking touch to your wedding!

Are you a fan of origami? I have always been charmed by them! If you are thinking of adding a homemade touch to your wedding, origami is a simple solution for unique and cute decorations. Origami figures have been a part of Japanese gift giving for centuries. Historically in Japan, origami butterflies were used during the celebration of Shinto weddings to represent the bride and groom. Today, people often use origami envelopes for anything from mailing a simple letter to creating custom handmade wedding invitations. And even more! You can easily create origami boutonniere and bouquet, origami place cards, centerpieces or decorations to place all around the venue! It’s such an incredible thing watching an ordinary piece of paper be transformed into a three dimensional form! And the more complex is the design, the more incredible this process becomes… you will enjoy the process and love the result on your wedding day!

It’s Summer.. So, let’s get a Gelato! Instead of a candy bar, a great idea for a wedding reception is to add a gelato or ice cream bar… During dessert time, you can push out a fabulous gelato cart and serve the guests gelato . Or even more… Add in the wedding reception a vintage gelato bicycle. This would be a fresh and colourful idea for a summer wedding, and you can customize the ice cream to suit your theme and colours. Chocolate, raspberries, strawberries, peaches, blueberries, pineapple, peaches and so on.. so delicious! And for a further chic touch you can serve it to your guests with a customized spoon to remember your wedding. The utensil would become a great favour as well.

In Spain, the bride traditionally carries a fan in place of a bouquet. Why don’t follow this tradition and add a fan to your wedding? Fans are perfect for hot summer weddings! They can be used as an alternative to bridesmaids’ bouquets or as a favour to all your guests… either you can carry just one for you as a perfect detail for your outfit! According to your wedding colour scheme you can choose between fabulous colours and lettering… I love the wording: “Welcome to the marriage of Katie and Tim.” …or what about something more sophisticated with a vintage inspired design? Either way they will definitely add a distinctive touch!
