Beach winter wedding decor

Images by Clara, styling by Chic Weddings in Italy

A beach wedding is beautiful in winter as well. Think of deserted coastal villages, long stretches of sand with nobody around, fur coats and straw baskets, a lighthouse, warm blue blankets and soft striped cushions on a hot February morning. I was born by the sea and of course got married right by the sea. I could not think of a BETTER place to tie the knot, I could not think of ANOTHER place. For me, my special day had to be all about swimming, enjoying the calm Mediterannean waters, drinking Malvasia and feeling the warm sun on my skin.

My sister though likes cold weather, she loves when the northern breeze caresses her cheeks in wintertime. She likes to cycle along the shore wearing thick jumpers and confy cashmere hats, boots and velvet trousers. She is probably the kind of person who would choose a winter month for her wedding celebrations.

Thinking about that…about the fact that not everybody likes to get married when it’s hot and sticky, I have created this February beach setting for a lovely, seaside wedding breakfast. I can picture the guests arriving at the church, located right on the beach, with their bicycle and a pic nic basket full of tasty delicacies to be enjoyed after the ceremony. A light breakfast, followed by a stroll on the beach where laid back pictures are taken while the bride and groom play in shallow water with their rain boots. Then, after sunset, everyone reaches the fishing village for a superb meal at the local “Osteria”.

What would the perfect attire for such an informal authentic wedding day be?

- A fur coat

- A chiffon dress

- A pair of Hunter boots

- A cashmere hat

Wow. There is no better way to describe the super-duper-extra-beautiful island of Ponza! I have always loved it and thought about getting married there myself. I finally ended up tying the knot in Filicudi but was really happy to organise this fabulous Mediterranean wedding in this very chic Southern  Italian Paradise. Here a few hints…the full wedding gallery will follow in the next few days. Watch the space!

Floating wedding dress

Images by Olivia Gird

I have always been fascinated by floating fabric; since when I was a little girl I used to love immersing dresses inside our home bathtub and pull them here and there, from left to right, right to left, under the water. I loved the silky look they took when touching the water. Years later in high school studying history of art, Ophelia became one of my favourite paintings. Again, later on, flicking through Elle magazine, I read about a photographer who captures women inside a pool, covered with flowers! I adore this concept! Looking back I have realized that I just love the idea of dresses combined with under water photography.

And today I have found a fabulous photgrapher whose delicacy and softness caught my eyes!

I am aware that asking  a bride to pose underwater with her wedding gown, is not a simple task ( the price you paid for  of the gown too often would make you think twice…if you are not a good breath keeper either, this could also be a reason :) ), but I would love to see more pictures of all my brides after their wedding, at least in one image  like those shots here.

They call it ” trash the dress”, I would simply call it ” Relax with your dress”

Usually colours are chosen to accentuate your mood. For your wedding what’s better than yellow to accentuate your joyful feeling? Here is a bright sunny mood board for those brides that are going to get married in this lovely and warm season. A yellow, blue and white Wedding scheme is a perfect mix either you are getting married by the beach or in the countryside! Yellow seems to soak up the light so it can radiate sunshine even on dull days, while blue and white bring elegance into the wedding design. How sophisticated this table setting with a silk blue tablecloth, white chinaware and small and bright yellow flowers is!

Memories of a journey towards an island wedding

Images by Eva of Chicweddingsinitaly

I had been travelling for almost 12 hours..an extremely long trip involving plane delays and waiting times. It was a hot, sweaty, sticky Friday of July and I was expected by someone.

The door of the boat opened, my clients, the future bride and groom were there waiting for me…I had just arrived to organise their wedding!  I was tired and fatigue was taking over but the Aeolian mood immediately overwhelmed me with joy. There are no words to describe what happens when you are in such a remote island of Italy, so far from everything, yet so close to everybody living there…It just takes you; the baker, the taxi driver, the fisherman at the harbour  screaming in the early morning ” pesce fresco”, fresh fish.

It is a long journey but if you really are looking for a unique wedding celebration, these islands are just perfect and offer a true Italian ambience. Below are some images of my memories. ♥ Read more and view more photos

A fairytale forest for your Wedding

I’ve always been drawn to blue tones. I find this colour incredibly calming but also quite sensual. Normally, blue has a reputation of a cold colour, here the shade of blue is warm and it has been further warmed up by the other tones it is mixed with: white and all different shades of brown. How romantic and fairy can be a Wedding like this? I love these pictures, colours, texture and the surrounding natural world.  It seems that this landscape has been lovingly sculpted by the season just for the couple. Get lost in a forest with your lover for the day of your Wedding! The sunshine, all these colours and your love will certainly warm up your unforgettable day!

This summer we are organising a wedding in the Aeolian Island of Panarea. A lovely Australian couple has decided to celebrate their wedding in this remote, far away, uncomfortable island ( Panarea requires a long journey to be reached) yet so charming and wild.

I don’t have any images of their wedding yet , but I can already picture how it will be … I would like to share with you all the impressions of Panarea captured by this talented interior photographer. A summer feel which already makes me dream about the wedding day of our clients.
