Feeling like a princess? Crowns as decor – Part 2

Via Modernhouseinsight

Here I am…with two new details to add to your crown-themed wedding. A beautiful wallpaper to decorate your photobooth or dessert corner and crown iconic candles for the wedding long banqueting-style tables. They would look amazing with a mix of dark red and dark pink peonies..for a colourful touch…or with a mix of white flowers if you prefer to stick to the two colour scheme. These are not the type of objects that any random princess would like…but an extravagant Princess with the BIG “P” who is not afraid to dare would die for them!

Jane Eyre style wedding

Images: top left corner, all others from Etsy

When Emily Bronte wrote this beautiful novel, certainly she didn’t expect her Jane to become an inspirational style icon to all brides to be.

The novel might have some dark atmospheres, poor, soft light interiors, stormy grey days and an impeccable old British nature  but the style of the lady is unique. I have created some moodboards which I hope will inspire all my British brides who are looking for something different, yet traditional.

1950s wedding inspiration

Images by Jasmine Star

If I have to pick any decade for a wedding theme, I would definitely pick the 1950s! The fifties marked a strong point in fashion, we all remember: the most fashionable color scheme at that time was black and white, black with white accessories, or white with black accessories. Later in those years, Spanish colours influenced fashion with a rich yellow or ruby red accessories and clothing. This gorgeous styled shoot by Jasmine Star recreates perfectly the mood of the time in just a few images: the retro patterns used for the stationary, the bright flowers and dresses, the reference to the character of  Twiggy and black&white Pucci patterned fabric. The whole overall theme is amazing and perfect for being reproduced on your special day!

A timeless engagement session

What is more funny than transforming your photo shoot into something timeless and unconventional.. like..for example…ehm… a shhhh-silent movie? I’m absolutely in love with this Charlie Chaplin engagement photo session captured by Ken Kienow. This couple is having fun with makeup, costumes, props.. . using mime and other visual comedy routines to strike curious poses! And the final result is fantastic!

Sometimes couples do not feel confident enough in front of the lens and their shyness transpares in the photos.. Transforming your photo shoot into something that cheers you up will be a great way to fight the embarrassment!

A colourful graffiti for your wedding

When I think about a wedding dress, always adjectives as immaculate, pure, clean, simply white come up in my mind. Elegance and charm have to be always surrounded by a picturesque background. But, what about having a graffiti wall as a backdrop? The wild and vibrant colours of this art are a great contrast against the clean lines of the white dress and black suit of brides and grooms. Around your city, in an urban environment or in an Art Museum you can find beautiful, bright and purposely designed graffiti!  Here for example, the couple was caught in front of the “Calligraffiti” in the Graffiti Art Gallery at the Pacific Asia Museum. A photo shoot in a Museum.. What a wonderful and unusual place for your wedding! What a great and original way to add some colour and excitement to your wedding photos! ♥ Read more and view more photos

Decorative ceramic ideas

Images from Lisa Bengsston‘s website

When you are hosting a small reception and you can therefore afford to splash a bit more on details, you should consider the importance of pottery and plates for your table decor. Investing on these items will help you create a personal and sophisticated look. Choose a theme,  a colour scheme, or an original image as a starting point to then devise the entire wedding decoration. Even a simple material can sometimes inspire creativity:  papier mache’, wood or in this case, ceramic.

A ceramic dish decorated with roses, could for instance inspire  the use of the same type of flowers but in a different contrasting colour…

A small wedding party offers the opportunity to cherry pick each single detail thus creating a very artistic mood for your reception.

Mhmm, yum, slurp..how sad would life be without the taste of sweets and the scent of flowers? If I had to choose what to save in Noah’s Ark, I would certainly put a box of macaroons and a bunch of roses aboard.  Sleep tight.

Masquerade Wedding in Venice

Image of Ca’ Maria Adele

Venice is a great setting for weddings. The city still retains its classical elegance and the charm of its majestic past with its beautifully preserved ancient architecture and renaissance art. Floating on a Gondola you would reach a sumptuous Palace on the Grand Canal for your very own decadent masquerade ball.

Our favourite hide-away in Venice is Ca’ Maria Adele, housed within the walls of a 15th century Palazzo and located in a tranquil corner of Venice’s arty Dorsoduro district. Its eclectic space filled with antiques and contemporary pieces from around the world will inevitably seduce anyone spending the night there. ♥ Read more and view more photos

Sexy lingerie under your wedding gown.

Images from La Magia’s website

-Hello Jane, it’s me, your best friend, how are you?

-Oh hello Karen, I am well thanks and you? What’s new?

-Oh you know, I was surfing the net when I found a sexy website selling old time style lingerie, bras and panties, corsets and nice shapewear.

Karen, you are a very close and true friend, do you think that John would like me wearing some of those items under my wedding gown? It would of course be a surprise…

Or would he think that I’m gone out of my mind?… you know me, Karen, I am so classic sometimes when it comes to lingerie.

-Why should John think that?

-I don’t know… I would possibly think that, if he said to me that he had discovered some funky underwear!

-Oh no, no no Jane. He would definitely love it. Now that I look at the website some of those knickers remind me of my granny’s pants but I have to admit that the whole outfit is indeed very flirtatious and playful … and anyway Jane, who cares? He is going to marry you before he discovers what there is under your wedding gown!
