Sourcing items to style a wedding

Here I am…so tired after a day of scouting, sneaking, sourcing, shopping…a few images of new entries into our stock of decorative elements. Markets are full of ideas, I wish I could just wander from city to city visiting them.

Anyway, Portobello on a Friday afternoon, when there are no tourists obstructing your view and you can actually take your time to look around is THE BEST!

Here are today’s purchases:

Vintage white light dress …perfect to hang, decorate a tree, a photo shoot

I told my husband that we now HAVE TO organise another party!

Vintage Marine hat for our photobooth corner..

Another almost new vintage suitcase (One of my current grooms would hate it and I still think about his sad story…however I can’t help it…but add new pieces to my collection! :-))

Yes, I have finally found a mercury glass vase that I like…hurrah!

And my old friend at the market had this gorgeous mirror which works perfectly at our girlie corner..let’s dance babes!

I am obsessed with statues

Images by Chicweddings

I am obsessed, I see them everywhere and every time I want to possess them.

I want to create a wedding table with those, white materials taken from the past. I want to use statues and bustos, antique folklore of the ancient history!

The use of statues is underestimated, in my opinion. You always seems too old ( by the eyes of those evil friends)  if you dare to use them as decorative objects, while instead I find them rather elegant!

Below some objects which caught my attention recently. I would like to have them all in my house.

Let them have fun about your wedding

Image from Lovewedbliss

Did you ever worried about what will happen, at your wedding reception, while you are gone for sometime to take pictures and pose nicely ? Oh my gosh, what will my guests do? Will they be bored, will the music selection be right, will they just wait for me to come back before sitting at dinner table and finally have some food?

What, what, what??? Well, here’s the trick. Give them a game to play and they will love it!

This is a small game, where your guests can fill out the words on one side and insert them later on the other side. Every guest, and yourself too, will have a blast when, later in the day, or after a few weeks, you will read out those funny stories. No cheating though… everything has to be spontaneous and it is not allowed to sneak over the other side of the page.

The girls of Sugar and Cloth have created a nice way to entertain your guest meanwhile you are somewhere else.

You can download the files here and read the instructions below; text is taken from Lovewedbliss website:

1 | Choose whether you want to have a blank heading for your own stamp, or if you like the design shown, then download & save the front & back of the guest lib by clicking the corresponding button above.

2 | Print the front design onto 5 x 7 card stock, and then flipping the card stock over to print the back. If you’ve chosen to print the design shown, there is a customizable box where you can insert your own wedding date on the heart before printing!

3 | Put a finished guest lib at each place setting with a small pencil, or you can have your guests pick one up on the way to the party.

Have fun!!!

Tulip secret garden

 All images by Chicweddings

What can you discover while walking in a park in the Netherlands? … a secret Garden of Tulips of course… Oh ! And the scent of spring all around. I can’t explain why but tulips make me happy! So bright and colourful, they always place a smile on my face! I have found this secret garden and its space was divided into colours and type. Yellow and pink, red and purple, light pink and bright pink. I thought immediately that tulips are beautiful but how wonderful would be to divide them into colours and create a table colour palette divided into nouances ? Imagine a long table with tulips as centerpieces starting from nouances of strong red colour ending with light pink. A lively Dutch Tulip field as wedding table!

The delicate vision of shade

Image from  Belle the Magazine

Today I am captured by millions of shades as the sun is shining here in Italy. Finally thousands of shades of colours are reflecting in the sky, the summer sunsets are almost here.

Looking at this masterpiece of mother nature, I start surfing for shaded colour tables and look what I have found! I love this! Great idea for a small table, or even better starting from the middle, Bride and Groom seats, towards the end, left and right. Imagine… pictures should be, then, taken from the top but a similar effect wouldn’t that be beautiful?

Of course all this should be complimented with a wedding cake, and a dress, and a wedding aisle…

Here some inspirations!

Bajan inspiration for a Barbadian style wedding

Sgrunt! I am back in London following 10 super days of surfing in Barbados. Apart from the fact that I am jet-lagged and my holidays are pretty much over, I can proudly say that my surfing skills have improved and that I have met a few new friends overseas. Lots of Turtles, lots of mangos and lots of beautiful colours: this is what I have taken away with me. Here are some images for a Bajan (Barbadian) inspired palette with a few accessories that you can easily purchase in London and would fit in well with any laid back island mood.

A Scent to Remember: Beautiful Sicily

Image via Costablog

Fragrance has always been a big part of my life and I try to use scents purposefully. To me, there is nothing more special than a frangrance that triggers a happy memory or dreams of discovering a new place.

The smell of Tiare reminds me of my magical trip to Hawaii a few years ago; the sun shining and beauty everywhere. The scent of Jasmine instantly takes me back to when I was living in Mumbai last year, where this scent was used to express luxury and opulence. Recently, I went looking for a new fragrance to enhance my mood in the form of room sprays and candles.

I’ve been using Ortigia products for over a year and everytime I use them, they take me away to an Italian paradise. Ortigia is a small town in Sicily, Italy and its beauty is captured in a scent form by a brand called Ortigia who make visually appealing products with smells to die for. The packaging alone is perfect to turn your bathroom into a little Siciliy.

Ortigia have expanded their range of products and my favourite scent from the range is Fico d’India which comes from a cactus plant. The scent is powdery and smells divine. If you are planning a wedding this summer, how about setting a mediterranean atmosphere with some Italian fragrances? The room sprays and candles not only look fabulous but will add a distinct scent to your day.

Take inspiration from this wedding where they’ve used Ortigia soaps as fabulous wedding favours for guests. What a beautiful idea for guests to remember your special day!
