Small details on food

Just a small post today as time is running before my new events to attend. I love these small details on food, the tiny daisy on cheese canapes and the scent of purple lavendel  on welcome drinks. Every wedding should have those touches!

Honeymoon on a tree house

Image from  la Piantata

How many times did you long for a tree house but you couldn’t reach Africa or all those exotic places which are too far anyway from Europe?

Well, in fact now the most romantic love escape can be reached in our territory! Italy!  Secluded between fields of lavender, silence and tranquility, this magic place can nest you and cuddle for your-week end for 2-philosophy.

Wine tasting and breakfast can be done from the top of your terrace, overlooking the valley. No internet or any other connection is available, just the silence, the scents, the music played from crickets and the nature.

You won’t have the chance to look desperately for lions, or have any giraffe to feed from your balcony, but for those who just want to hide away, this romantic house is the perfect place. Nobody will find you unless you want to spot out and be reached.

Sourcing items to style a wedding

Here I am…so tired after a day of scouting, sneaking, sourcing, shopping…a few images of new entries into our stock of decorative elements. Markets are full of ideas, I wish I could just wander from city to city visiting them.

Anyway, Portobello on a Friday afternoon, when there are no tourists obstructing your view and you can actually take your time to look around is THE BEST!

Here are today’s purchases:

Vintage white light dress …perfect to hang, decorate a tree, a photo shoot

I told my husband that we now HAVE TO organise another party!

Vintage Marine hat for our photobooth corner..

Another almost new vintage suitcase (One of my current grooms would hate it and I still think about his sad story…however I can’t help it…but add new pieces to my collection! :-))

Yes, I have finally found a mercury glass vase that I like…hurrah!

And my old friend at the market had this gorgeous mirror which works perfectly at our girlie corner..let’s dance babes!

I am obsessed with statues

Images by Chicweddings

I am obsessed, I see them everywhere and every time I want to possess them.

I want to create a wedding table with those, white materials taken from the past. I want to use statues and bustos, antique folklore of the ancient history!

The use of statues is underestimated, in my opinion. You always seems too old ( by the eyes of those evil friends)  if you dare to use them as decorative objects, while instead I find them rather elegant!

Below some objects which caught my attention recently. I would like to have them all in my house.

First Chicweddings’ wedding of the new season

All images  by Chicweddings

Officially the wedding season has started and here a glimpse of our first wedding.

A lovely couple, mixture of cultures, Russia meets the Netherlands, have decided to celebrate their wedding in this beautiful Castle situated in the beautiful hills of Florence, Tuscany, Italy. They chose the theme of ‘ travel and love’, their journey through life, sealed with a kissed and  the promise of their love. The event was simple, fresh and romantic with many details as a reminiscence of the travel mood. Antique globe and an old travel case, blue and red striped borders on papers as if in an vintage envelop, names of cities as table names and many other more lovely details, were the main features of this wedding.

These are just some amateur images taken with my Instagram camera but I hope soon to have something more to post…more to come!

The beauty of raw materials

All images from Chicweddings

Since I was a little girl I have always been fascinated by old materials, granda’s big old trunks, rusty pans, and old lamps. I always felt a kind of attachment to the past, I don’t know what is this feeling, like if the objects from the past were always better looking or better designed.

There is a shop in Amsterdam where I love to hang out, looking for new trends or for ” new” things from the past. I like then, once back home,  to reinvent my house and adjust my small place with some fantasy.

This shop is called Raw Materials and it is nothing new in the interior design world, but for some reason it is a shop which is always catching my attention. Who would have ever though to combine an old dentist chair with an old church piece of furniture as table?

Running wedding errands in Italy

Italy…it’s such a difficult country to live in…many visitors don’t realise it but for the residents there is always something wrong, something to complain about.

The perfect country for a wedding I would say, an amazing paradise for a short break or a long relaxing summer holiday…but not the best place to settle.

I live in London and I have chosen this city after having tried Madrid, Aix en Provence and Munich. I love London and would not trade it…unless I decide to move to a peaceful island to surf every day.  :-)

Having said that, still, every time I arrive in Italy I am overwhelmed by its magic. Here are some images of Florence, Tuscany and Rome that captured my heart this past weekend.
