A Beautiful Summer Safari

Image via Omg i’m getting married

Recently I’ve been dreaming of an African Safari. There is nothing more exciting than a beautiful location, warm weather and a new adventure to get you in the mood for summer and perhaps even a safari themed wedding! The image above is so fun and timeless. It is so inspiring to see couples do something different using masks. The picture captures a wonderful moment in a beautiful setting at the same time making it almost surreal.

This safari inspired photoshoot got me thinking about the cool and quirky things you can do to personalise your wedding. Being a fan of vintage suitcases, I was immediately drawn to their uniqueness and love how the image below, which gives different ideas of using suitcases as part of your decoration. Using them as a backdrop to your photo spot is just one idea. I was also drawn to the minature wooden rhino in the photo above which is perfect for wedding favours or to liven up your table decor.

This table setting adds some much needed colour to a safari theme. The bright flowers with warm softly lit candles just looks dreamy. The birdcages add a little fun and quirkyness to the whole setting. You can also replace the birdcages with cute little laterns which will create a similar effect.

The bride looks stunning and her bridesmaids look so cute in their safari inspired dresses. I love how this photo looks vintage yet modern. The soft lighting gives the picture a dreamy effect.

Beautiful and simple. The natural elements around the couple and their outfits create a relaxed vibe. I especially love the vintage style photography which really gives the photos an almost 1920s style effect.

Fabulous False Eyelashes

Didn’t Adele look like glamour personified at the Grammy Awards? The 1940s wave, the bright red lips… and, of course, those fluttering false eyelashes! A fabulously long, luscious pair of lashes can’t fail to make you feel feminine and femme fatale!

But false lashes have had a fantastical makeover – why settle for something simple when you can choose little, whimsical works of art to adorn your eyes! Whether it’s delicate paper silhouettes, peacock feathers, neon pink, or tiny silver stars, you’re sure to find something to suit your personality…

Victorian glass dolls

When I was in New York, I bumped into a store selling kitchen appliances. Admiring for more than 10 minutes these items, I was wondering if I had to buy one of those or if my shopping desire was going a little bit too wild on that day!

What will I do with these, once back home?…I was only able to envisage them between vases and flowers and therefore… what did I do? I bought them!!!

The other day I went to the market, again stared at thousands of spring flowers, remained in silence between scents and colours,  thinking about my little glass dolls. My attention was captured by some strange green plant and white ranunculus so packed the flowers, ran back home, and create my table decoration. My dollies finally had a place to live, and for this, I decided to include them on our Chicweddings styling proposal. Not something that everyone would incorporate but I still believe they look great if used in the right way.

Below some images of my final table decoration for trying out purposes! :)

The love for decor never ends…

I watched this video this morning, when I woke up. My husband handed me his iPhone in bed and I was either very emotional, or still in my personal world of dreams as tears came to my eyes. PASSION, LOVE, DETERMINATION, HOPE…yes, we always keep dreaming…and we never stop.

Incredible Cakes!

Mmm… cake! Who doesn’t love a delicious slice? And there is something just as sweet as the dessert itself about the old tradition of cutting the cake together on your wedding day. But tradition can still be shaken up a bit, in your own, unique way! I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw these [almost!] too-good-to-eat creations from Choccy Woccy Doo Dah – bursting with color and fun!

You could even bring the baked-goods love to your wedding favors, too. The amazing Amanda Cupcake is a cake genius, and her creations are always dripping in sparkles and high fashion! Even better, she can whip up your very own customized cupcakes, inspired by everything from Lucille Ball to the Big Lebowski!

And take it from me –  her unique ‘cupcake kaleidoscopes’ [delicious layers of Technicolor-sponge cake, sprinkles and edible glitter sandwiched into a glass jar] will keep even the most hard-to-please wedding guest happy!

Vintage Carnival: Creative Event Styling

Image via pinterest

I love the look of a carnival themed event. It adds fun and a little nostalgia. Carnival themes are perfect for weddings and birthdays. The best part is DIY. Whether you’re crafty or not, there’s a way for everyone to get involved. Here are some fun ideas to get you buying or even DIYing for your own events:

Image via the wedding directory

Nostalgic sweets and pickn’mix adds a really cute centre piece. You can buy the sweets in glass jars from many online shops (A quarter of). Or if you’re feeling creative, you can buy your own funky jars in different colours and fill them up with delicious treats.

Ideas box have amazing retro carts/ stands that you can hire for the day which are perfect for both weddings and birthdays. Popcorn, candy floss and Pimms are just some of the stands you can choose from.

This party invitation is so fun and quirky. Whether you are planning a wedding or a party, this colourful and fun invite will let your guests know how much fun they can expect. Maybe throw in a swirly lollipop with your invites!

The funky upside down umbrellas add an unsual twist to event decor. I love how it looks like carnival tents upside down. Add some funky lights or laterns amongst the umbrellas to make your decor stand out.

Image via b.loved weddings

Such a cute idea for weddings and you could get your photographer to take some really nice shots of you and your guests. To switch it up, you could have that as a backdrop to a photo area.

Add a retro vibe with cute popcorn boxes and maybe some vintage soda bottles from American Soda
